Magnificent satisfactions continue to arrive from Portugal. In Volta’s 5th stage, the rider of Amore & Vita – Prodir, Marco Tizza, was the protagonist of the day’s breakaway and, less than two kilometers from the finish line, he crushed everyone, arriving solo on the uphill finish (and on the cable stones) of Guarda, ahead of the Spanish rider, Marque (Sporting c. Tavira), the Australian, Dempster (Israel Cycling Academy), and the French, Guernalec (Arkea – Samsic).
“This is a really deserved victory – commented team manager Cristian Fanini – Marco was great, as indeed he had been in Sibiu, then at Italian Championship, and throughout the season so far. This success goes to further embellish what we had already done in this race thanks to Davide Appollonio, and the subsequent other results of him and Celano. We are still at the 5th stage, we have others in which we can try to overcome and I must admit that the prospects are very encouraging. This year we’ve been absolute protagonists in Italy and Europe and these are important results that repay us for the great commitment we all put into the team every single day, unlike what happened unfortunately last season. I thank all the athletes, directors and staff, because they are true professionals and they deserve to experience these incredible emotions, we dedicate this latest success to our sponsors, especially to Mr. Giorgio Pagani of Prodir, to the Schiavon family of Selle SMP, to our former rider Spreafico of Veloplus and to Jorge Baeta of Jorbi Bikes, who is following us on the roads of his country and bringing us so much luck “.
