After a very satisfying season at Team Trevigiani, the former professional and former Ukrainian champion Volodymyr Starchyk returns to the team that first launched him as a professional cyclist and then as sports director.
38 years old, born in Kremenchug (UKR), Starchyk has won beautiful races in his professional career always wearing the Amore & Vita’s jersey (A&V – McDonald’s and A&V – Conad).
In addition to the success of the Ukrainian national Championship in 2009, we must remind the amazing victory obtained in USA (always in the same year) at G.P. Univest (2 stages and general classification) and the beautiful performance at the World Championships in Mendrisio (SUI) won by Cadel Evans, in which Starchyk was the protagonist with a spectacular escape until a few kilometers from the finish line.
Then he turned fro rider to ds.s. and he had already managed to win some races in China with the A&V athletes, where he’s still very well known and appreciated.
«Vlady is a very good D.S., he’s exactly what we were looking for right now – says team manager Cristian Fanini – he knows how to interact perfectly with the athletes, he knows how to handle them in an excellent way, and has also an excellent technical preparation. In the past he was a high level professional rider so he will know how to master all situations. He speaks 5 languages fluently and this will be important considering that in 2019 we will have a athletes coming from 9 different countries. I’m really proud welcome him and to come back to work with him who is also a close friend. I’m pretty sure that along with Maurizio Giorgini, Roberto Marchetti and Alessio Di Basco (winner of stages at Giro d’Italia, Vuelata Espana and Tour de Suisse who will be this year our coach for the sprinters), will be able to bring back into our group the right atmosphere and the necessary enthusiasm to return to win where we want. A factor that this year, unfortunately, was a bit ‘missed due to a succession of special events».
